Palestinians in Jerusalem held sit-ins and demonstrations on Friday in yet more protests against US president Donald Trump’s decision to recognise the city as the capital of Israel.
Protesters clashed with the Israeli Defence Force as they marched around the Al Quds mosque after Friday prayers, but were banned from entering the occupied Old City.
Marches also took place in Bethlehem and Gaza, which also saw celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the Hamas movement.
The protests were the latest in a series of international actions to condemn Trump’s move, which was near-universally criticised by world leaders.
The response of Islamic countries has been nearly unified, after a summit in Turkey on Wednesday to which 23 countries sent high level delegations and the remaining 34 OIC members sent lower-level representatives.
